A crucial part of the Trust’s research is the Summer Studentship Programme, which began back in 1992. Each summer the Trust, through its sponsors, funds three or four medical students primarily at the University of Otago, Wellington, but in the past we have funded students in Auckland and Christchurch, to work on a research project over their summer holidays.
In the 2014/15 summer, the Trust funded four studentships on the following research projects
Prevalence and molecular determinants of fusidic acid resistance in Staphylococcus aureus from New Zealand: sponsored by Phil and Teds Most Excellent Buggy Company
Management of Idiopathic toe-walking in New Zealand – sponsored by The Surgical Research Trust.
Demographics and clinical features of premature myocardial infarction patients in New Zealand - sponsored by Phil and Teds Most Excellent Buggy Company
The Paediatric and Adolescent Rugby Injury Study (Paris) – sponsored by The Surgical Research Trust and and Otago University's Wellington School of Medicine
